this book was so precious! i highly recommend this book to anyone that loves a good escape story! it was just so delightful to read and i enjoyed every single second! thank you again, netgalley!!!
Inspiring, though-provoking, a call to action....all fitting for this book.
The premise is that we should look at every day as a new exciting day that lies ahead, and rather than just getting through the day, actively seek enjoyment, novelty and fun. By the end of the book you will hopefully have a new appreciation for your days, looking at them from a more optimistic and curious perspective. I found this an easy and enjoyable read. I would recommend it.
Every Day Is A Field Trip is a charming and inspiring book. The author has a looser definition of a field trip tan me, but that makes it more fun. Let`s go on a field trip 🙂
This was a quick and inspirational read to find excitement and adventures in your everyday life. Some of the suggestions seem pretty obvious, but it surprised me that I hardly ever do any of it. This book is a nice reminder to just get up, make a plan and live all of those micro adventures that are waiting everywhere around you.
What is a field trip? It's anything that shifts your perspective, fires up your imagination, shows you something new, or challenges your comfort zone. Jay Hummer certainly understands field trips! He's taken some amazing trips in his lifetime and encourages readers to take field trips each day, too, whether it's smelling flowers or climbing mountains. I did enjoy the short chapters and action steps. The book is easy to read in one sitting or over time. There are also plenty of tips in this motivational book that help readers plan field trips. Many of the tips cost money and take time, though, that Mr. Hummer and his family were able to take but that families like mine can only dream about. In that respect, the book feels like a fantasy and not reality. Also, the last quarter of the book focuses almost exclusively on Mr. Hummer's climbing adventures, which takes away from the field trip idea and should be a memoir of its own. Overall, this book is a fun read and reminded me to look for ways to have fun, enjoy life and take field trips every day.
This was such a fun book! This was a quick and easy read with ideas that you can take into your own life. The writing was always very positive and easy to comprehend! I really enjoyed how every “field trip” idea had a story to along with it as wel!
The perfect read for anyone looking to embrace every moment of life and have fun each day. If you’re ready to stop living life through screens and instead do some real-world exploring, then get yourself a copy.
It is a wonderful guide from author that encourages a adventurous life through field trips. Author takes example from his own life and describes various places in US and various activities that can make your like wonderful. A guide to live life like a field trip.
I think the beauty of Every Day Is A Field Trip is that it isn't a cover-to-cover adventure novel and it isn't one long and continuous story of self-discovery. Instead, I see it more as something I enjoyed consuming in smaller pieces; enjoyable stories from the author's life with bits of tips, advice, and lessons learned along the way. If you're feeling like boredom is starting to creep in, or need a little motivation or inspiration? Open this book, read a few chapters, and try out one of the "Field Trip Challenges" the author recommends. Most of the chapters are pretty quick reads and there is a healthy mix of personal stories involving field trips big and small. No matter the story topic or size of the field trip, everything is presented in a very entertaining and (most importantly) relatable way. I've checked off a few of the smaller "Field Trip Challenges" already, and some of the longer field trips that I've also been chipping away at myself, like the author did in the "Forty-Eight Mountains" chapter, I'm looking to finish in the near future. Do yourself the favor and give it a try.
The author’s stories make the book itself an amusing read, particularly as he recounts many misadventures in his quest to enjoy life. With his enthusiasm for trying new things as well as appreciating what’s in your own back yard, Jay Hummer draws you into his fun-loving, explorer mindset, leaving you eager and determined to weave more play into daily life. So whose ready for a Field Trip? Lisa
A very quick and easy read about how to make your life full of field trips with many suggestions on how to get the most out of your field trips. It expounds on the living in the moment or being present with yourself as you navigate life. We all have choices and where can we choose to see life as a fun journey with field trips like we were all excited for in school Great read, recommend for those looking to add to their enjoyment of life and making of a great bucket list!!!
This is an entertaining book about making everyday life situations into field trips. In other words, creating an environment for enriching one's life by planning to do things every day and also being in the moment learning and enjoying what happens day to day. Whether it be a taxi ride, volunteering in the community, learning something new...the author suggests ways to live life more richly. It is an interesting perspective that they author presents. I enjoyed his personal stories that he meshed into each chapter. I also like that the chapters are brief and to the point.
